This is the perfect time of year to make bone broth and chicken soup. This is fantastic for healing your gut. We have some wonderful stewing hens which are the older chickens that have the wonderful gelatin. These stewing hens are on sale now for $8 a pound and can be ordered through the co-op or picked up at our store. 

 

Recipe: Put your stewing hen down in a crock pot or instant pot, add salt and pepper and you're ready to go! (In a crock pot this will take approximately 12-15 hours) (In the Instant Pot/pressure cooker this takes 55 minutes) 

 

When done, you are ready to enjoy the warm rich broth in a coffee mug or if you prefer, add some noodles or rice, pull the meat off the chicken and you'll have a delicious chicken soup. Just what the body needs on a cold day!
