Blueberries, Blackberries, and Bratwurst

Published: Sat, 06/29/13

Hello Farm Friends,

I hope everyone is getting ready for a little time off around the 4th. We have stocked the freezer with a lot of Bratwurst and Pork Chops so fire up the grill. We also have plenty of good steaks and ground beef for burgers. For those of you who have not tried the Linguica, they are excellent! We have a nice batch of those sausages as well. They are not hot but have a little more spice than a Bratwurst. We really like them!

The blueberries and blackberries are just starting to come in. The six of us here at the farm all got out this morning after milking and did some picking. Next week they should start coming in heavier so make sure you check the egg fridge for fresh berries. They are all grown naturally without any commercial fertilizers or sprays and you can really taste the difference.

Cucumbers and squash are coming in from the garden and tomatoes will soon follow. We have eaten just a couple but there are many more getting very close. They are all heirloom varieties. This year we're growing a nice Amish Grape tomato that is really sweet. Those should be trickling in next week as well.

Just a word of thanks to our farm friends. The increased ticket sales are helping with the constantly growing farm. The greenhouse is coming along nicely but it still has to happen in shifts. We get a couple of days on it between milkings and then we have to catch up on gardens and the berry patch.

Thanks so much for choosing us to be your farmers!
