Critical Farm Update: Please Read Thoroughly!

Published: Mon, 09/16/13

Dear Farm Friends,

On September 26, 2013, My Dad & Me Family Farm will be celebrating it's one year anniversary as a 100% grass-fed dairy. We officially announced our new protocol in January of 2013. The response from our farm friends was phenomenal. Approximately 6 months into the new year we totally sold out of membership slots. Presently, the farm is full and not taking members. We continue to place potential farm friends on a waiting list for available milk slots.

While the demand for the products we produce has been high, the profit margin has been extremely tight. Grass-fed cows have proven to give less than half the volume of milk of their grain-fed counterparts. This has driven the cost to produce a gallon of milk up considerably however, we remain committed to staying GMO-free and 100% grass-fed. The disparity, between big Ag's GMO food that is sickening so many and healthy non-GMO food produced the way God meant for it to be, is growing ever greater. For many of us, this means we must make difficult decisions about where we spend our money. We are all feeling the pinch.

In response to the farm's need to generate greater profits in order to survive, My Dad & Me Family Farm will be implementing four membership opportunities. As time rolls around for farm friends to renew, each member will be given the opportunity to sign up for one of the four plans. The plan you pick will be a one year commitment, so please consider carefully which plan best suits your family. For those of you that have recently signed up under the 50/50 Handshake Basket, you will be allowed to select a different plan if you choose or you may remain with the plan you have.

Beginning September 26, 2013, milk will be sold by the bottle, (same 1/2 gallon glass jars), but we will no longer make a distinction between half gallons at $6 and whole gallons at $10. All bottles will be the same at $8 each. When ordering milk, simply state the number of bottles you would like. This will help us alleviate the confusion of how many jars folks want to purchase. Sometimes we get an order for three gallons only to find out the customer only wanted three jars. So to simplify things when you order, just tell us how many jars you want. Even though this represents a substantial increase in the cost of the milk consider that non-GMO grass-fed raw milk is still quite a bargain at $1.86 a pound.

Here is a brief description of our four membership plans:

Platinum Plan-50/50 Handshake Basket  = Under this plan farm friends commit to spending $50 each week for 50 weeks out of their membership year. Under the Platinum Plan members will receive a $5 a week discount on their $50 weekly purchases. In addition they will be given first priority on milk when milk is in low supply.

Gold Plan- 25/50 Handshake Basket = Under this plan farm friends commit to spending $25 each week for 50 weeks out of their membership year. Under the Gold Plan members do not receive the Platinum $5 discount each week.

Silver Plan-Meat and Potatoes = Under this plan farm friends have no weekly commitments to spend a minimum. They receive access to all that we sell on the back porch with  the exception of milk and eggs. This plan affords folks that simply want to buy chickens and other meats and veggies the opportunity to purchase these items without a weekly commitment.

Bronze Plan-Live animals and Feed = Under this plan no membership fee is required. Farm friends may purchase live animals and non GMO organic feed  only.

Plans will run one full year from the day you join. You are allowed to upgrade your membership plan during the year but you can only downgrade a plan on your membership renewal date.
