Beef Sticks and Jerky!

Published: Tue, 09/24/13

Hello Farm Friends,

My Dad & Me Family Farm is privileged to be offering beef sticks and jerky from Stony Mountain Ranch in Pennsylvania. Carl Swartzentruber, the minister who married David and Tina, is the owner of the ranch and raises Piedmontese, grass-fed beef. This is very high quality grass-fed beef and they use a portion of it to make beef sticks and jerky. David and I fell in love with them and decided to contact them about selling some here. They were favorable and today we received our first package from them. We will be getting it out on the back porch today. If you would like to try it, come on out to the farm! We have mild and hot beef sticks. (Hot is not real hot.)

Susan has plenty of  kefir grains available for those that would still like to get some. Kefir is like buttermilk on steroids. It has lots of good enzymes and bacteria that helps support a properly functioning gut. If you have any kind of digestion problem kefir is a big help.

We remain full to taking on new folks under the Platinum and Gold plans but next week we hope to sign a few folks under the Silver Plan. If you have been patiently waiting on the waiting list and would like to get on as a member to the farm, please email us and let us know if the Silver Plan will work for you. Just a reminder, the Silver Plan is the meat and potatoes plan which allows you to purchase everything that we sell with the exception of milk and eggs. It is important for potential farm friends to know that the Silver Plan members will be given first priority to upgrade to the Platinum and Gold plans when milk and egg slots become available. So if you would like to be a future member, it is imperative that you come in under the Silver Plan in order to receive priority on the few available slots that open up.

All of us here at My Dad & Me Family Farm would like to say a word of thanks to all of our farm friends that have sent us encouraging emails concerning all of the farm changes. We realize that 100% grass-fed means a higher price for milk than those that are feeding grain but, by and large the responses have been overwhelmingly supportive.

For those that find that they cannot afford 100% grass-fed, there are approximately three other dairies around Atlanta. We are very close friends with most all of them.

The Good Shepherd Family Farm in McDonough, owned and operated by Kevin and Jennifer Campbell is a devoted dairy to bringing honor to the Lord Jesus.

Country Gardens in Newnan, owned by Joseph Cunningham, is another great opportunity for raw dairy. Joseph is a fine young man and his father and mother also do CSA shares among other things.

Lastly, Carlton Farms, owned and operated by Chad Carlton and family, is located in Rockmart and may be a possibility for some that find themselves priced out of the 100% grass-fed market.

You can call any of these dairies to confirm how much grain they feed and whether or not it is GMO and soy-free.

There is one farm, East West Farm in Marietta, owned by Daniel and Katie Seedorf, that is also a 100% grass-fed dairy farm. We have enjoyed a close relationship with their farm. They also sell organic-fed, GMO-free, soy-free chicken. The Seedorfs help us out on our chicken processing days and they have been quite a blessing.

For those of our farm friends who have chosen to stick it out here with us, we would like to thank you for your support through the years and your continued support going forward.

Come out and try the beef sticks. They are great!
