Anna has free samples of her latest creation ~ A New Bar!

Published: Fri, 08/23/13

Hello Farm Friends,

Come on by the farm and try Anna's new bar. She is making a gluten free, dairy free, sugar free bar that is loaded with flavor and energy! No need for some chemical energy drink. This bar packs a heavy weight punch with no caffein, only healthy organic, real food.  In fact it is one of my favorite snacks after dinner. Anna will be handing out samples of her new bar today and tomorrow and all of next week. Come on by and give us your feedback on what you think of Anna's latest creation.

David has been busy processing rabbits. These will be the last rabbits of the year so come stock up on rabbit fryers.

The deep freezer is filled to the brim. We just got some wonderful new steaks, stew meat and ground burger as well as lots of beef stock bones. We also have pork lard and some nice ham hocks to flavor your beans or for making pork stock.

For those of you who have not put in your broiler order yet, we have about 25 birds left for the Sept. 28th processing date. Email us or come by if you would like to reserve chickens for this date.

Fall planting has begun! Between the many rains we have been able to squeeze in some lettuce, arugula, kale and spinach. We will be putting out cauliflower, collards, broccoli and cabbage as soon as the weather clears enough to till the garden. We are looking forward to some nice greens for the fall and winter months.

I would like to thank everyone for responding to our request for a door for the greenhouse. It was unbelievable how many offers we had. In the end we were given a nice metal door already pre-hung on a jamb and David and I were able to simply walk up and nail it in place. Thank you Stephen and Susan Hurley for your generous gift! It is quite a resource to be able to send out an email to over 2,000 people. Last time we requested a vent-a-hood and were able to trade for one. Thank you customers for being responsive to the needs of the farm. We are always glad to trade for the items we are requesting.

The greenhouse is really taking shape! David and I will be pulling the huge roof plastic on Lord willing one day next week. We still will have the roll up sides that will require a good bit of assembly but at least the main structure will be in the dry. We look forward to putting it into operation!

It is time for David and I to get to the Friday grass cutting... I hope to see you at the farm soon.
