Hello Farm Friends,
We have grown to dearly love the Texas Early White onions. They are super sweet. I have yet to find a place that sells onion plants in bulk organically so these are not organic starts but if we all treat them that way as soon as they come into our possession I doubt that the few drops of whatever was used to fertilize them will have much affect even though I certainly would have preferred
that they would have been treated organically. I will leave that to your judgement for your family. Unfortunately, everything that we would like is not always available.
It is getting a little late to be starting onions but with our severe weather most all of the farmers are running late. The farmers that tried to winter over their onions lost everything in the 6 degree weather. Onions can handle all the way down to about 10 degrees. I doubt any of us
are going to be making 6 inch onions this year but we should be able to make some nice golf ball size pearly whites along with some nice green tops for the stir fry.
We will be selling some bundles of onions with approximately 20-25 starts for $6 a bundle. If you would like some they are on the back porch as of right now. They are first come, first served so come on out and get what you need.
For all of you
who ordered bags of manure for Saturday, they are bagged and ready to go and we will have them on a trailer at the end of the driveway. Flag one of us down and we'll be glad to load you up. The bags are $5 each and they are fresh manure so please mix it into your garden soil well. For anyone else that would like to get some cow manure please email us and we'll be glad to bag some for you or you can bring your pick up and we can sell you a tractor bucket load for $25. Keep in mind that if we get
rain we must wait for things to dry out before we can load or bag manure.
I hope all of our farm friends are doing well. It looks like the rain has been pushed off a bit till later in the evening but tomorrow promises to be sunny and clear.
Potato planting went well. Willie had lots of fun helping and he's now hoping for homemade French Fries soon!
