Exciting Farm Update!

Hello Farm Friends,

My Dad & Me Family Farm has found a farm! It is located in Etowah County, Alabama, just 30 miles from the Georgia line, and seems to have all of the raw ingredients to make for a lovely new farm.

David and I, along with Jacob and his girlfriend Maddy, went over Monday and put a contingency contract on it. The contingency gives us 90 days to sell our farm here in Georgia and use the proceeds to finance the Alabama property. We pray for God-speed as we embark upon new horizons.

The home is a brick ranch built in the 70's with ample space for both David's family and Susan, Anna and myself. It also has a two car detached garage that we will likely use as our farm store, at least for the short term. There are two barns on the property that will provide space for hay storage for the cows as well as the storage of farm tractors and accessories.

There are two bodies of water on the property, one small water shed pond that is stocked with bass and brim and a two acre spring fed lake that is full of catfish. We don't intend to allow it to remain full for long!

The new farm is 64 beautiful rolling acres with approximately 45 acres in pasture and the remainder in mixed timber of hardwoods and pines that are filled with abundant deer and turkey. The perimeter of the property is already fenced. The neighbor is grazing beef cows on it presently along with "Thumper" the resident donkey. We have negotiated the inheritance of Thumper if we are able to purchase the farm.

Gail Bryant is the present owner. We pray for God's direction for her as she prepares to move "back to the city". She is a self proclaimed city girl that married a country gentleman. They have spent the last 30 years at the farm. Her husband Berl caring for the cows and Gail caring for the home and its furnishings. Berl has gone on to be with the Lord but his excellent masonry work is throughout the house both inside and out. We appreciate his attention to detail and quality workmanship. We will be building upon another man's foundation and we are honored to do so.

We, at My Dad & Me Family Farm, very much covet your prayers as we seek such a difficult undertaking as relocating the farm. Of course, we must first have a buyer for our Powder Springs farm but we know if it is God's will then He will direct the one He has in mind for this place. We look forward to all He is doing!

It is our hope that some of our Georgia farm friends will be able to continue with us at our new farm in Alabama. Even though it is 78 miles from our present location, it is a wonderful drive straight out 278 West. No need to get on the super speedway! You make one turn off of 278 and then go 1 mile and you will have arrived at the most peaceful country farm you can imagine. Our hope is that some will make it an outing and come stay for awhile and enjoy the grounds. We plan to set the front area up as a playground for the kids, affording the parents some time of solace from the rush of "the sprawl". Consider staying with us and incorporating some "down time" into your busy schedule.

For those that find it impossible to remain with us, we certainly understand. It is our hope and prayer that the new owner of the Powder Springs farm will continue at least a small presence here so that you who would so choose, could stay on and enjoy wholesome local food. Perhaps YOU are the one to carry out this calling!

In the meantime, the Georgia farm will remain fully operational literally until the day we depart, so please do not panic! We will keep everyone updated through email. When we get a contract on this place, we will be implementing a plan that will allow our farm friends that choose to cease buying from us to exercise a farm credit for their remaining membership months.

As we get closer to the holidays, keep in mind that we are open everyday including holidays UNLESS it falls on a Sunday.

Thank you for allowing us to be your farmers for all these years!

God bless you all,
The Hammonds
Daniel, Susan, & Anna
David, Tina, Willie, & Baby Bump
