Milk and Eggs

Hello Farm Friends,

If anyone is needing extra milk with the bad weather coming Susan has put some in the first milk refrigerator. David and I just got through checking on the calves at the two satellite farms making sure everyone has fresh water and we noticed that the roads are still fine. I am not sure how long that will hold up as the afternoon progresses. Hopefully we will be spared too much extreme weather. This has been quite a winter already. It seems you never know what you are going to get in Georgia!

With the extremely cold weather most all of us farmers are facing the same issue with eggs. Laying hens simply do not lay very many eggs in this kind of cold weather.

I know we all are learning and we are forced to try new things for breakfast other than just eggs. A couple of alternatives are of course Anna's wonderful granola and the yogurt that can be made very simply from the milk. Susan has a recipe sheet on how to make the yogurt and if you would like it, email us and we'll be glad to get it to you. One of my favorites is a big bowl of yogurt with a little sorghum syrup drizzled over the top of it. If we have pecans or almonds that is a bonus and raisins are a great addition as well. Many days a bowl of yogurt is my lunch. Give it a try!

So far no definite purchaser for the farm. We will continue with business as usual until a buyer emerges. We appreciate your continued prayers for the farm.

Thank you for choosing us to be your farmers. Enjoy the snow!
