Some of you that are new to the farm may have not had the opportunity to meet our oldest daughter Leah, but many of you remember her inputs at the farm as cook and preparer of a lot of the special goodies that we sell on the back porch. In fact,
Leah is the creator of the original chocolate bar! Anna, of course, carries on that tradition and tries to add new products periodically. Anna has some very special offerings coming up real soon. We have all been taste testing to help her tweak these new recipes! I won't give it away yet, but the combination has to do with truly healthy and chocolate!!
Leah has prepared a
Pizza blog post for My Dad & Me Family Farm. Her husband, Michael, still lets us borrow her on special occasions :) With Leah's blog post we will be offering a Pizza Special. Purchase one Iron Skillet Bread Dough (for your pizza crust), one pack of ground pork, ground beef or sausage and one pack of cheese and receive $5 off of this grouping of three products. Just add up the total of these three items and take $5
off of your purchase. This special will run for the next two weeks. If you would like to exercise it more than once, you are welcome to do that.
We mentioned in our last email that there might be a possible breach concerning GMO in the spice packet for the Riverview Farms sausage. Sherlock Tina Hammond followed up with this and discovered that there is no breach. The small amount of sweetener in the spice packet comes from pure cane sugar and at present that is
non GMO. The reason we say at present is because good ole Monsanto is working hard to change that in 2015. Thanks, Tina, for clearing this up for us! I am especially glad because I love the sausage but I hate GMO.
Tina wanted me to let everybody know that she has a few breeding rabbits for those that would like to start raising them for meat or if you are just desiring them for a pet. If you are interested come on by and talk to Tina and she'll be glad to show
you what she's got. These are the last rabbits for the breeding season. We also have dressed rabbits in the freezer.
Our cheesemaker in PA has just started a new flavor: Dill Havarti! Next time you're here, give it a try.
Fall is just around the corner and it is a great time to think about starting your seeds for fall crops such as: collards, cabbage, broccoli, turnip greens, cauliflower, spinach, lettuce,
beets and anything else that suits your fancy that likes the cool season. Susan has already started several trays for us and we will be moving those to the front garden once they get a little bigger. Johnny's is a great place to get your organic seeds. They are very thorough and get your seeds to you very quickly. Happy Gardening!
Thank you farm friends for choosing us to be your farmers!
See you soon at the farm,
Daniel, Susan and Anna
