Chicken Day, Anna's Ice Cream Blog, and Possible Blackberry You-Pick

Published: Thu, 06/19/14

Hello Farm Friends,

This Saturday, June 21st is Chicken Day. Would everyone who ordered birds please reply with an email confirmation that you will be here between 4pm and 5:30pm to pick up  your broilers? Don't forget your plastic freezer bags. David has done a great job with the Freedom Rangers and we will be processing approximately 210 Saturday. They are looking beautiful!

Don't forget to get your orders in for the July 26th processing date. We will not be processing in August so keep that in mind when you are calculating how many birds you will need. You can email us your order and drop a deposit check ($10 per bird) in the mail or you can come by the farm and fill out a broiler order form. If you haven't seen Susan's video on Three Minute Chicken, check it out. The Freedom Ranger cooks up wonderfully this way. It is so flavorful and juicy!

Anna got her ice cream blog post out last night with her creation of Mint Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream. You are definitely going to want to try this one. I have tried it, I am trying it and I plan on trying it again in the future! If you would like to make some of this ice cream and need extra milk, just email Susan and let her know. It takes about two bottles of milk to get enough cream along with the necessary milk to make a 1 1/2 quart tub of this recipe.

Blackberries should be coming in soon. It is looking like we are going to have a very good crop. If we continue to get the rains and things go well, we may open it up to doing some "you-pick" this year. If you think you might be interested in "you-picking," please email us and let us know this so we will be able to ascertain whether or not there is enough interest to pursue this.
