Hello Farm Friends, April 15th is just a week away! It is time for all of us
to get our vegetable gardens planted. Each year we try to grow some starts to offer for sale to our farm friends. This year we have two heirloom varieties of tomatoes as well as zucchini, yellow squash, butternut squash, and cucumbers. These plants are in four inch pots, are $6 each, and are ready to purchase now. We started with organic seeds and planted them in organic potting soil along with manure from our cows. We do have a limited supply so if you would like some, come by the farm as
soon as possible. The plants have done especially well this year so we should be off to a good start.
The May 23rd processing date for broiler
chickens is sold out. Today, we are opening up orders for a June 20th processing date. These birds are raised on pasture and fed organic, non-GMO, soy-free feed. They are $6.50 a pound and generally weigh between 4 and 5 pounds. Just drop by the farm and fill out an order form including a $15 per bird deposit. Or if it is more convenient, you can email your order and drop a deposit check in the mail. Orders tend to fill up rapidly so come on out and get some garden plants and sign up for the
best chicken you have ever tasted.
Tina has a few more baby chicks for sale. The
remaining breeds available are: Speckled Sussex, Golden Laced Wyandotte, & Rhode Island Red. They are on order and should be here May 8th. If you would like to secure some future laying hens for you and your family, please email us and let us know how many you would like. If you have questions, Tina should be able to give you all the details. We also sell Countryside Organic chick starter for those of you that want to raise your birds on organic, non-GMO, soy-free feed. Layers are
a great way to get your homestead producing healthy food for your family.
We had a nice surprise last night. Esther had a
little heifer calf we named Emma. She was up frolicking around this morning and mama & baby are doing great! Isn't it amazing how when they get the food God meant for them to get (raw colostrum from their mother), how healthy and vibrant they are. Cows also produce the highest quality milk that actually reduces our risk of contracting cancer if we drink it. So drink up and enjoy!
See you soon at the farm,
Daniel, Susan, & Anna David, Tina, Willie, & Ellie |
