Hello Farm Friends,
Anna has been at work again creating a special bar for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her new Pumpkin Spice Bar is now on the back porch in the milk refrigerators. All of the bars that we now offer are made with the highest quality organic ingredients and there is absolutely no refined sugar. So enjoy them and share some with a friend!
As we mentioned in an earlier blog, My Dad & Me Family Farm
put up 300 pounds of sweet creamed corn this year from the garden we had growing out front. We will be selling a little of this creamed corn around the holidays. They are in 1 1/2 pound packages and are $8 a pound ($12 for the package). We feast on this most evenings and it is absolutely wonderful! It will be located in the brown refrigerator's freezer along with frozen, sliced sweet peppers that we are also selling. They are $6 for a pound of prepared
peppers. David and Tina have been working hard to help with the declining egg situation. Of course, winter means egg production
takes a dive since chickens normally are raising their young during the spring and summer. We now have approximately 100 new hens that are a little over half way to laying age. It takes about 22 weeks for a chick to grow to laying age. In the mean time, try a little of Anna's granola for breakfast along with a little fresh yogurt! If you don't know how to make yogurt, Susan has an instruction sheet she is glad to share with you. Also, Susan is doing yogurt classes, so watch for an email
for the next opportunity to learn to make delicious yogurt. Those of you that are signed up for the yogurt class for this Saturday, Nov. 8th, please arrive around 10:15am. Looking forward to a good time at the farm making butter, kefir, and yogurt! David has been creating in the wood shop again. He has some
new spreader designs as well as some wooden rolling pins great for making sourdough Iron Skillet Bread or tortillas. He also has some artistic pieces. Before David and I got into farming, we were full-time remodelers and wood workers. David has several bowls and vases and a few boxes that he will be selling here around the holidays. If you have friends or family that you are looking to purchase gifts for, this would be a great opportunity for something unique and handcrafted. If you would
like to see these, just ring the bell and Susan will be glad to invite you into the living room to see these beautiful works of art. We have a whole collection ourselves on display as well. Sorry those are not for sale! :)
See you soon at the farm, Daniel, Susan, & Anna David, Tina, Willie, &
