Hello Farm Friends,
The Yogurt Classes have been a big success! Many are learning that making yogurt is really very simple and can help save you lots of money. Some have requested a week day class, so Susan will be offering her latest Yogurt Class on Thursday, Nov. 20th at 10:30am. It should finish up around 1:00 or 1:30pm. The cost is $35 per person and each farm friend will leave with two farm coupons
and enough culture to make 4 quarts of their own delicious yogurt. If you would like to join us on Thursday, please email us to reserve your spot and drop a deposit of $20 in the mail or by the farm. You do not have to be a member of the farm to participate in this class so all you farm followers come on out and join us!
We have some My Dad & Me Family Farm's non-GMO, grass-fed bones and organ meat from our very own steers. Other than my neighbor giving these steers some organic cereal on one occasion, (against my desires) they have been raised
for the last two years on nothing but grass and grass balage. These are extremely high quality beef bones and organs. Animals that have been raised in a low stress environment and are extremely healthy because of their grass-fed diet make for wonderful, health giving food.
With so many people struggling with stomach and digestive issues, bone broth is now more important than ever to the American diet. These broths allow the stomach to heal from years of toxins from the air, water, and food. The way we like to fix the bones is to just place them in the crock pot in the evening with a few herbs, salt, and pepper, and when you wake up in the morning, you have hot, healthy broth to start your day
with. It sounds like we are in for some pretty nasty weather, especially as we come through the weekend and the forecast is
calling for rain on Monday. We have plenty of milk available right now, so if anyone would like to get extra for making yogurt or for just plain ole drinking, then email us and we will be glad to pour some up for you.
Anna has been working overtime filling the fridge with our
new Pumpkin Spice Bar that she is making available over the holidays. If you haven't tried them, I can testify they are great! Beulah just had her heifer calf which we named "Brenda". We now have a record number of seven calves in the calf pen and
still one more due before the year is completed. We are excited to have so many beautiful heifers for future milkers. We also hope to be able to offer some of these for sale when they are grown and ready to be a great home milker. We are having a wonderful time training them all to the halter and teaching them to lead. Check out all the new calves the next time you are at the farm. It is so fun watching them run especially early in the morning or late in the evening when
they all get to frolicking together!
The garden greens are coming in nicely. Don't forget to pick up a bag of lettuce the next time you are at the farm. See you soon at the farm,
Daniel, Susan, & Anna David, Tina, Willie, & Ellie
