Hello Farm Friends,
This Saturday, June 27th, is Broiler Chicken Pick-up Day at the farm. If you have ordered birds, please respond to this email with a short note letting us know you will be here between 4pm and 5:30pm to pick up your birds. The weather forecasters are calling for rain so it would probably be a good idea to bring your umbrella. If it is raining during pick up time, we may set up at the barn where we can be under cover,
but you would still need to get from your car to there and then back to the back porch.
Saturday, we will begin taking orders for the July 25th Broiler Processing Day. It is a good time to be thinking ahead about stocking your freezers for the winter. Many times folks wait to
the last minute and we run out of birds to sell. Best to stock up along! It seems that we eat so many chickens that we are always eating our winter stash. But when you have a cook like Anna, it is hard to resist :)
The blackberries are finally starting to come in in full and they are really sweet this year! David and I picked a boatload yesterday and Susan has them stocked in the egg and veggie fridge. We had the joy, this year, of being able to pick strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries all the same day. This rarely occurs since strawberries typically play out, because of the summer heat, long before blackberries and
blueberries ripen. The wonderful spring rains and cooler temperatures helped bring this about. Of course, the cooler temperatures are gone now!
See you soon at the farm,
Daniel, Susan, & Anna David, Tina, Willie, & Ellie
