Milk is extremely tight right now and it will be tight until September 1 when our next cow calves. We attempt to breed one cow each month
so that one cow dries up each month and another one comes in however, this is very difficult to achieve in real life. The hot weather causes the cows to put less energy into reproduction and more energy into staying cool.
Oftentimes, they do not
go into heat or at least they do not show us their heat, and therefore, we are unable to breed them. Generally, we are able to juggle this pretty well, but for the next 30 days it is going to be very close on milk. If we don't meet our demand, we will have to short some milk orders, but we will keep you informed if this happens. Hopefully, "Juliet" will calve right on time and we will have plenty of milk very soon. Midnight gave us three beautiful, solid gray kittens about two weeks ago. We did not know where they were, but we knew she had had
them. Tina found them behind the barn and has moved them to a box on the back porch so our farm friends can enjoy them. If anyone is interested in a cute farm kitty, they are $30 each. Email us and let us know.
