Hello Farm Friends,

Angel delivered a beautiful heifer calf and mother & baby are doing wonderfully! It never gets old watching the Jerseys calve and seeing them lick their baby clean. Angel is an excellent mother and had no trouble at all with delivery. David, Susan, and I just took some time and watched & enjoyed seeing the way God provides through the animals for His people.

God sends the sun and the rain that causes the grass and herbs to grow. The dairy cows feast on the grass and produce a wonderful rich milk that sustains life. And with just a little effort that liquid milk can become a myriad of different cheeses, fresh or cultured butters, yogurt, kefir and some of the most delicious sour cream you've ever tasted. Our daughter, Leah came by the house Thursday and used some of the fresh cream to make sour cream and it was so rich, thick, and tasty. We all enjoyed it last night with some homemade tacos. Thanks Leah!

If you ever choose to make your own sour cream, simply leave your milk jar undisturbed for a few hours then take a ladle and skim off the cream. Heat the cream gently to 110-115 degrees F. Now add some purchased yogurt culture or if you have some organic sour cream you can use that to put in your fresh cream to culture it. Place in a cooler with a towel around it to keep it warm and leave it undisturbed for 12 - 24 hours, then refrigerate. The only bad thing about this is that after all your hard work it is so good that it will be gone in minutes! The life of the cook is so unappreciated :)

Susan has some wonderful new body butter. The flavor is Orange Vanilla and it smells good enough to eat and since it is all organic food grade ingredients, you can! Come on by the farm, Susan has got some of her new butter on the back porch for you to sample.

Tina is now making her Iron Skillet Bread with Organic Einkorn flour!  Einkorn is the oldest variety of wheat and has very little gluten making suitable for those that can't tolerate gluten well.  And because it has been made into a Sourdough form, it's just plain ol' more healthy for everyone!  You'll find this Sourdough Einkorn Dough in the meat freezer on the back porch.  It can be fried up in an iron skillet (think tortilla, quesadilla, or flat bread to load up with goodies), baked in the oven very thin (think crackers), deep fried in coconut oil (think crunchy chips!), or baked into personal sized pizza crusts!

Next week, we will begin taking orders for our organically-fed, non-GMO, soy-free Broiler Chickens. These are the delicious Freedom Rangers that we started raising a couple of years ago and they are the absolute very best. David raises them out on the pasture in the bottomless pens and they get plenty of sunshine and grass & bugs to eat. The pen is simply a protection from high flying predators and low roaming varmints.
Thank you, farm friends for your continued support of My Dad & Me Family Farm. We appreciate each and every one of you. If you are simply a follower of the farm, consider coming out and joining us.

See you soon at the farm,

Daniel & Susan
