Dear Farm Friends,
I
thought our farm friends might enjoy David, Tina, Willie and Ellie's wrap up of 2016. My Dad & Me Farm is growing and we have plenty of milk to share with farm friends. Come on out today.
The end of
2016 and the beginning of 2017 was a really busy time on the Farm, as I'm sure it was for all of you. Between an addition to our Red Barn, the Holidays, processing two American Guinea Hogs with my brother-in-law and my sister, and a pretty major plumbing problem in the house, the time has passed in a blur. If you haven't found us on Facebook yet, please do; we post frequent pictures of our latest shenanigans on the
Farm!
The end of the year brought our Jersey cows into our new addition to the Red Barn. We're thankful the barn is full of hay, wood shavings for bedding, and is a nice dry place where we milk the cows for your
Fresh Jersey Milk! With the new addition on the Barn, it's also where we can bed the cows down and feed them out of the rain and cold weather through the winter months. This supplies the pasture with much needed rest, gives the cows a warm, dry place to be, lets us access the cows we milk from inside the Barn, and the manure and wood shavings will be a wonderful compost come Spring to spread back onto the pastures here at My Dad & Me. We've been patiently waiting for our calving to resume; the last calf was born in early December, and we named him Levi, a new prospective
bull for our herd. But milk has been selling quickly and we were very thankful for two new arrivals this past Sunday, Nestle and Phil. The fridges will be busting shortly with plenty of Fresh Jersey milk and Fresh Yogurt my wife, Tina, makes each week! We've also added several items to our Farm Store we hope you'll enjoy: Working Cows Dairy in South Alabama makes a wonderful butter that is Organic, Grass-fed and Low-heat Pasteurized! The butter
is delicious and Tina has the fridge stocked with plenty. Many of you have asked for butter, and while we cannot make it, this is the real deal!
Also, we've added hot dogs! Is there any other food that is so convenient and delicious at the same time!? But many times hot dogs contain some
of the most questionable ingredients... Stony Mountain Ranch is run by some dear friends in Pennsylvania, and their combination of grass-fed cows, pastured hogs and a wonderful processor makes for the best hot dogs we've ever eaten. Come give 'em a try! We're very grateful to our faithful customers each week, and if you're new to receiving
our emails but haven't stopped by the Farm Store, please come on out!
See you soon at the farm!
David, Tina, Willie & Ellie
