Hello Farm Friends,
We have some wonderful fresh caught Sockeye Salmon Steaks. We tried some last night and they are superb. We also have some ground Salmon which is very versatile to cook with. Anna did a Garlic and Onion, a Maple and Cayenne and a plain Salt and Pepper steak patty. Experiment with your favorite spices and see what you come up with! My favorite was the Maple and Cayenne. Nice to have some
fresh caught fish.
I am loving these ground salmon steaks!
It's nice to have grass fed beef, pastured pork, broiler chickens and now some wonderful fresh caught salmon.
With Anna's cooking, Susan and I eat like kings and queens!
Broiler season has already begun. Susan has placed some Broilers and Stewing Hens in the Poultry freezer. The Stewing Hens are fantastic for making broth or soups and of course the Broilers are out of this world with just a little salt and pepper and roasted in the oven. Both the Broilers and the Stewing Hens are on pasture and fed nothing but Organic, Non
GMO, Soy Free feed and you can really tasted the difference.
So glad to be having broiler chickens again. I love them when Anna roasts them.
We are starting to cut our Romaine Lettuce, Beet Greens, and some Swiss Chard. So much more flavor than the stuff you get in the grocery store and we have discovered that it holds up much longer in the refrigerator as well.
Susan and I would just like to say a word of Thanks to all of our devoted Farm Friends that come by each week and purchase the items we sell. We could not do it without you.
I hope everyone is enjoying the farm babies, we certainly are. For those of you who are interested in knowing the names of the babies, the Jersey steer's name is Huckleberry, the two Guinea Hogs are Wilbur and Wally (Wilbur is fatter and sweeter!), the goats are Holly (brown eyes) and Ivy (blue eyes), the chickens are Lucy (white Delaware), Lady (Rhode Island Red), Linda (Black Australorpe), Lisa (white
and tan Ameraucana-lays a green egg), Laura (black and white Cuckoo Maran) and our rooster is Larry (white Delaware).
We acquired four extra critters in the chicken coop: Willie, Ellie, Heidi and Laura!
See you soon at the farm,
Daniel, Susan, & Anna
David, Tina, Willie, Ellie, Heidi and Laura
